1989 Honda Goldwing GL1500 flat six.
With attached 2 person side car 1996.
Excellent condition, runs like new, 31K miles. All mechanics in ready to run order, tires like new. I Would not hesitate to drive this across country (again) with no work done to the rig.
- Always garage kept from its birth (unless on a trip). No rusted parts. Tail pipes still quiet.
- Carburetors supped up by dealer, puts out extra horse power (quoted as 115 horses, an extra 20). Intake manifold polished for extra toque by dealer. Front-end stiffened to prevent vibrations from side car.
- Custom factory paint, 2 tone, Champagne Sparkle upper, Harvest Brown lower. Factory only painted this for 2 years. Side car was computer color matched to paint when purchased, paint will age together.
- Speed controlled (as opposed to a throttle lock or vacuum meter), vacuumed driven, factory installed cruse control. Set it at 65, and it will stay on 65 like a car.
- AM/FM Stereo with cassette, four way speakers and automatic volume control that will increase or decrease volume with speed.
- Reverse gear, in neutral by way of the starter motor.
- Air shocks, changeable with on-board air pump (touch of a switch). Air-pump has outlet to fill water toys, mattress, or tires.
- Adjustable Windshield, will raise and lower up to 5 inches.
Aftermarket extras:
- Driver back rest
- Passenger Arm Rests
- Extra lighting in trunk reflectors
- Touring foot rest platforms
- Cigar lighter
- Windshield chrome ring
- Trunk rack
- Front-end stiffener
- Deer horn wind sirens (loud to them, no noise to us). Trust me they scare away moose as well.
Customized to integrate Amateur Radio mobile radio, with PTT and audio / mic through intercom. If buyer shows current Amateur License will leave radio on bike, otherwise can be changed to family radio, CB, or mobile phone.
Customized to turn off passenger's intercom mic to eliminate wind noise, passenger has a push button to talk, or a switch to leave on.
Customized to provide DC power outlets in main trunk, for recharging of toys and cell phone.
Sale includes:
- 2 color matched helmets with intercom
- Internal Soft Bag Liners for all three trunks
- External Rack bag for trunk lid
- Tank saddle bags, with belly bag
- Soft Liner Bags for Sidecar trunk
- Soft storage bag for Side Car Roof
- Intercom Speakers and Mic for Side Car
- Official travel tool kit (never used, bike never broke down)
- Official Shop Manual
- Original owners manual
- Extra switch boxes (not installed) for handlebar master cylinders.
Major trips taken over the years ... Yellowstone, Maine, Kentucky, DC, Branson, and various weekends. Selling because family has grown up and we have shifted to RV life with a 5th wheel (big truck can be seen in some pictures). We simply do not use this bike anymore, and I don't want it just aging away in the garage.
Miles per gallon varies by weight, speed and wind. Highest ever achieved (without car) 55, lowest (with car) 35. Top speed without car 100 (before front end gets light), with car 85 (before wind load pulls on car). 65-70 miles per hour is so comfortable I was able to do 10 hour days.
About the Side Car

1996 Hanagan, custom made for my bike.
Hanagan was well known for side cars at that time. Back then they were located in Kentucky. Having several models of cars, this was their biggest at that time. I'm not sure how many they made, but I had to wait for them to mold the body, and weld the frame. This was made to order with a 12 week wait, when they were selling their other cars with a 2 week turnaround. Bottom line, I think this is only 1 of a handful ever built.
Features:
- Seats 2 side by side. Certainly 2 kids, or regular sized adult with 1 kid. (wife used to sit in car with child in a booster seat.)
- Seat is from a late 80's Honda Civic (rear seat), vinyl
- Hatch flips up and wind keeps it closed, has latch to secure from inside in cross winds.
- Hatch can be locked from trunk
- Trunk has lock with key
- Hatch can be made topless (convertible) in seconds. Stores behind the seat.
- Heavy Fiberglass arch will act like roll-bar in case of the nightmare. Seat has 2 belts.
- 13 cubic foot trunk
- Pitch control
- Wheel on car has brake, adjustable with bike to stop straight.
- Has its own master cylinder
- Bike Intercom is wired to car
- Headlight
- Taillights (with brake light)
- Air vent
- Easily removable by 4 aircraft bolts (10 minutes). (will include in sale, homemade roll around rack for car when it is off the bike)
Pitch control is a very important feature of this car. Car is hard mounted to the bike via non-adjustable lever arms. Car can raise or lower by a touch of a switch on handlebars, which will change the pitch of the entire rig (moving the center of gravity). Allows for adjustments for weight and road crown. This feature will remove any pull on the handle bars, allowing for a straight drive and no fatigue to the driver.

| Huge Trunk, 13 cf no need for a trailer with this rig! |
Bike has a reverse gear, if you don't want to put your feet down, you never have to. |
Mount of car on bike, you can see the aircraft bolts. When disconnected, remaining hardware on bike has an acceptable appearance. |
