The ACCB's purpose is advocating for the citizens of the United States.

Acknowledging that most citizens do not have the technological background to understand how Big Brother can be controlled, the ACCB was formed to foster communications and debate about the subject of Private Information.

The ACBB is not a soapbox ... This is not a partisan message delivery ... The intention is to cultivate the thinkers in this industry, and provide a middle ground for them to compromise to.

While there is an initial concept of technology system design, this is a living document.  It is hoped that stakeholders within the industries and government will edit this, provide further insight, and finally help the ACBB produce something of a manifesto for the law makers to structure a framework around.

How ACBB came about:

The founder of ACBB was in the job market in the middle of 2005.  Personal events in the founders life shaped his focus to look for employment with a company that was attempting to integrate data collection and technology in a consumer advantageous way.  His search for such a firm came up completely empty.  Not that there were no positions available, it was that there were no organizations or firms with even a similar mission as to his goals.  What this exercise showed the founder was that there was a huge void in the technology game; either groups firms, and organizations were on the far right thinking they should collect as much data in as much minutia as possible; or they were far left thinking that no-one should store any information about individuals.

There was a great debate happening.  On one side of table was "WE WANT IT ALL" a.k.a. Big Brother, on the other side was "YOU CAN'T HAVE ANYTHING" a.k.a. ostrich's with their head in the sands.  It should be noted that the debate was not one of compromise, it was a race; a race to see which side could force the technology into place before the restrictions were put into law.

While this is fine situation in a capitalist country (a consumer always has the right not to use the products and technology presented by businesses) there was a change in the real need and requirements from the governmental sector.  The events and aftermath of September 11, 2001 is requiring the US government to consider technological options in the collection, management, and storage of Private and Nano Information.  In a realistic sense, the every-day citizen of the US will soon not have the option to participate in the technology of information control.

Thus the serious dilemma : if every citizen will be required to have available their Private and Nano Information, what controls will be put in place to notify those citizens of its use and storage i.e. what are their Miranda Rights when it comes to their Private and Nano Information?

Thus the concept for the ACBB was born from that question: just what will the Miranda Rights governing Private and Nano information be?  Additionally, the founder's history with consumer devices, along with Smart Card and RFID technologies, presents a possible solution to this dilemma.

The Founder:

Robert A. Chamberlain

Robert is a Technology Manager with 20+ years in consumer based product development.  Starting as a Software Developer, he was rapidly promoted to Software Engineer, then Manager, and most recently Director of Engineering.  His career has had a theme ... design and produce products, based on technology, that subtly change the way the populous lives there lives.

Robert has helped design Cable Television, Digital Television, HDTV, and Point of Sale products.  In each product line there was emphasis on collection of Public and Personal data related to the consumer and how the consumer used the product.  There has always been a desire in the industries to collect data for analysis purposes, but the data had always stopped short of Private Information.

Robert's history has allowed him to be very close to the evolution of the Smart Card, RFID, and encryption technologies.   While searching for employment in 2005, Robert had the idea of merging his personal concerns over Private Information with his working knowledge of Smart cards.

Robert created the ACBB with this in mind.  Not just to create himself employment, but because there was no advocate for the citizen regarding the collection, use, and storage of his Private and Nano Information.
